The land was pristine, totally unspoiled, just as nature had made it. That’s as it was in 1945 when a small encampment settled beside the water at the northern tip of Key Largo. It was a remote place, a kind of haven away from the din of civilization and the endless demands of responsibility. Fishermen liked the quiet. Back then it was just them and the fish; the peaceful atmosphere encouraged relaxation in a place where you could be yourself. And that’s the atmosphere we still enjoy, where we can savor the things that mean the most: family, friends, renewal of the spirit.

For more than six decades Ocean Reef Club has welcomed many new members while we’ve kept our minds and our eyes focused on the magnificent natural surroundings where this remarkable club has evolved. We don’t forget how precious this piece of real estate is, or the way of life that it’s done so much to make possible. Perhaps the greatest achievement of our highly sophisticated ORC members is having kept our natural surroundings so close to the way they were.
