Golf and sailfishing – long the two most popular recreational pastimes on The Reef – will once again be combined in the 10th annual Grand Masters competition.
The tournament format calls for a four-person team to compete in an afternoon of golf followed by a day of offshore fishing.
This is also a tournament qualifier for the ORC Sailfish Champions of the year and a chance to fish in the IGFA World Sailfish Championship in Mexico.

GOLF FORMAT 4-player Scramble All players tee off and choose the best ball. From there the group will continue to choose the best shot and play from that location until the ball is holed. Players may place their ball within one club length of the chosen spot, no closer to the hole. If the chosen spot is in the rough, hazard, bunker, etc., the ball must remain within that same condition. Once on the green, the ball may be placed within two inches of the chosen spot, no closer to the hole.
Note: The Team must use each player's tee shot twice.
HANDICAP A team handicap will be established from 50% of each handicap.
SCORING SYSTEM The team that posts the lowest net score will set the benchmark by which teams earn points. For example, if a net 66 is the low round, that team receives 500 points for that score. The next low score will be awarded 450 points, and the next lowest 400 points, etc.
BONUS POINTS There are 10 points available per hole for net skins (total of 180).
TIES Will be broken by match of cards. Back nine score, then if still tied, hole by hole from 18. TEES Men play from White Tees and Women play from Red Tees.
PROXIMITIES Closest to the pin on holes #9 and #18
FISHING SCORING There will be a sliding scale for fishing. The team with the most sailfish released will receive 500 points. 450 points for the second most, 400 points for the third most, etc. In addition, bonus points will be awarded as follows:
25 points for Dolphin, Wahoo, Kingfish and Tuna (max three per species) 200 points for a Marlin
TIES Will be broken by time of landing your fish.
AWARDS Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in the Golf and Fishing competitions, and to the top team overall. |
