Construction Progresses on Big Three
The Club’s three major projects (Associate Parking Garage, Ocean Room/Lobby and Clubhouse) continue in various stages of progress while smaller renovations and improvements near completion.
The Associate Parking Garage is just over sixty days from completion. The precast structure is fully assembled and now the mechanical, electrical and plumbing are in the works. Once open, the Parking Garage will provide 400 spaces for Associates, freeing up parking for Members throughout the Club. The demolition for both the Ocean Room and Clubhouse projects are complete. Woolems, the construction team for the Ocean Room / Inn is finalizing the much needed structural repairs that were discovered during demolition. They are now framing the interior of the building as well. Craft Construction has completed the demolition of the Clubhouse on schedule and we will soon start to see the exterior structure taking shape.
Last month, a couple of additional exciting improvements were also detailed. As part of our efforts to provide enhanced Member services and amenities while also re-energizing the Marina-side of the Fishing Village, Port O’Call has moved to the much larger space previously occupied by Leggiadro and will open November 1. (Leggiadro is now open in its new home at the entrance to the Fishing Village.) The larger space will provide seating to enjoy selections from the wine shop while also maintaining the wine & spirits retail store. The Burgee Shop has opened across from Reef Treats with expanded offerings and dedicated children’s retail area. Orvis has reopened next to the Dive Shop.
Additionally, Reef Hut’s refresh has taken shape, including the new tiki hut designed to provide more shaded outdoor seating. Reef Hut is slated to reopen on October 15. All of these changes are the result of positive Member feedback, support for these popular Member venues and our efforts to create more outdoor dining seating.
The Club is continuing to require all contractors assigned to Club projects (Ocean Room, Parking Garage, Clubhouse and Reef Hut) to agree to a set of COVID rules, guidelines and best practices similar to those of Associates. The process continues to run smoothly and as community partners, these companies have taken responsibility to protect the safe environment also being provided to Members and Associates.
