Capital Projects Update
Many exciting projects that began this summer are now open and being enjoyed by the Membership. Expanding and enhancing dining areas to supplement seating lost by the construction projects and self-imposed COVID capacity limits were a priority, along with providing enhanced services and amenities.
As a part of these efforts, while also re-energizing the marina side of the Fishing Village, Port O’ Call opened in its new space providing expanded wine selections along with wines by the glass with seating both indoors and outdoors. The Burgee Shop, Orvis and Leggiadro are also enjoying their new locations and welcoming Members daily.
Additionally, the refresh and upgrade to Reef Hut is complete. The outdoor seating under the trees and tiki hut has been a popular outdoor option for lunch and dinner since opening in November. The new tiki hut at Raw Bar is also a welcome addition for Members, providing open air seating for lunch and dinner. Toski’s Patio opened a few weeks ago, offering favorites from the Toski’s menu while also adding seating and several new lunch menu items.
The two new dining experiences, Palm Court Nights and Town Hall Waterside have been popular destinations providing variety and atmosphere not found elsewhere on The Reef. With a need for additional dining seating for this season, the Food & Beverage team got creative with developing new concepts in existing Club spaces.
The Associate Parking Garage, which opened just last week, accommodates more than 400 Associate cars, freeing up spaces for Member parking throughout the Club. A detailed transportation plan has been devised for Associates, which includes a shuttle service and bicycles to get everyone to work safely and timely. We are planning a ribbon cutting in the New Year once the landscaping and other last details are complete.
Woolems, the construction team for the Ocean Room/Inn is working to complete the kitchen for the first week of the new year, with kitchen equipment installed this past week. Metal framing is 80% complete throughout the building and drywall is progressing in the main and private dining room. The Ocean Room dining room, Reef Lounge and Inn will open in phases and a plan has been mapped out with the contractors. Regarding the Clubhouse project, the building foundations are complete and the lower level retaining walls are under way. The design team is working on enhancing the drainage and parking areas.
The Club continues to require all contractors assigned to the Club’s projects (Ocean Room and Clubhouse) to agree to a set of COVID rules, guidelines and best practices similar to those of our Associates. The process continues to run smoothly and as community partners, these companies have taken responsibility to protect the safe environment being provided to Members and Associates.
